I haven't tried this, but it is a possible "work around".
Reduce the document to screen size.
Take a screen shot.
Open in PhotoShop or something similar and save as a jpeg or format of your
choice.
Insert the image into a new word document - enlarge as needed to fill the
page.
Now save as an HTML and all the "tons of stuff" will be frozen in place.
Let me know if this works.
