If you are already using webmail or edumail, you can ignore this message.

For everyone else - we have posted two documents on the
inside.seattleschools.org site to help current POP3 email users reconfigure
their systems. The first document has guidelines for IMAP configuration, and
the second one has setup instructions for the full Outlook client.

These documents are aimed at home users. Anyone on the Seattle Schools
network should be using either OWA (web-based mail) or the full Outlook
client. Call the Help Desk and enter a ticket for assistance if you are on
the district network and your computer is configured to use something other
    than OWA or Outlook.

One more plug here for web-based mail as the solution of choice for home
users - it eliminates all the configuration issues, can be used from any
computer with a current browser, and is a real lifesaver when someone sends
you a large attachment and you're on a slow link. It is also the district
standard for email use from home.

The full Outlook client is also an approved district standard for home use,
but keep in mind that Information Systems has limited resources for
supporting home access. Although IMAP is allowed, it is non-standard and
Information Systems can't provide support for it.

You can access the conversion documents in the Conversion Guidelines section
    at:
    http://inside.seattleschools.org/area/main/email/spsemail.xml

Or, from the inside.seattleschools.org home page, click "Using email."

    Thanks,
    Judy

    -tictech message:

    Hi all,
A couple weeks ago we were notified that popmail would no longer access our
seattleschools email accounts, as of March 24th.

I wondered if anyone had found a document, website, or whatever to explain
the changes necessary for those who currently access their seattleschools
accounts via popmail (outlook express, outlook, eudora, etc) - from home
and/or school. There are several staff in my building who are in that boat.
What I'm looking for is a document with screenshots, what to fill in what
field, etc, to make the transition to either IMAP or the full Outlook
client. I would like to be able to either hand something out, or point
people to a web site, maybe even a FAQ page. Thanks - Mark
