    --- TIC-TECH message:
I misspoke a bit in my last e-mail. The only applications that need to be
added are to Administrators's computers. And that is just to make sure
that their computers have Outlook 2000 and Internet Explorer 5.5.

For the teachers, nothing has to be added. I saw OWA (Outlook Web Access)
in use for the first time today and I was really impressed. Once you get
the new UserName@SeattleSchools.org account, you just fire up your Web
Browser, http to the correct Seattle School District address, login with a
UserName and Password, and you are in OWA. It is a stripped down version of
Outlook, but it has the features that most of us want/need. So, nothing
needs to be added to the computers for the teachers. The really great part
of this system is that you do NOT need to do any configuration on the
teachers end of the e-mail link. We we setup Outlook, Outlook Express,
Eudora, etc, we have to setup the configurations for the users' ingoing and
outgoing mail servers. With the SSD OWA system, all of the work is done at
the district end of the connection. But, only for the
    UserName@SeattleSchools.org accounts.

And, it should work anywhere in the world from the Internet. My
understanding is that we can use the same SSD site as a POP3 Server. If
so, then we can continue to use Eudora, Outlook, or whatever else e-mail
program that allows for POP3 connection.

I asked about importing an Address book from a previous e-mail system and
the person who I asked didn't know. It is quite easy to setup a new one.
It is also easy to send e-mail to everyone in the new system. Put in a
name like "Felty", it will show you that I have a VAX account, but not a
    CKS account.

So, anyway, the new system looks really great.
