    --- TIC-TECH message:
As many of you have been painfully aware, network access speeds in the
district have gotten significantly worse in the recent past. Our analysis
pointed to the Bess Internet filter boxes as the source of the slowness.
We've been working with N2H2, the Bess vendor, to determine what was causing
the slowness. Their analysis shows that the Bess proxies are receiving four
or five times more hits than they are really capable of handling.

The overload is a result of the number of new sites, higher-speed
connections, and additional computers added to the district's network as
part of the ongoing levy project.

We're looking at potential solutions to relieve the load on the proxies and
get access speeds back to a more normal level. We'll keep you posted on
    progress.

    Thanks,
    Judy
