    --- TIC-TECH message:
Peggy Soong-Yaplee asked about guidelines/policies regarding student
portfolios and other items that would be published on the web. Judy
Margrath-Huge is convening the Web Governance Committee tomorrow to discuss
this and other related topics. Les Foltos, Charlie Walker and I have
received comments, suggestions and questions from a number of employees and
parents that will be discussed at the meeting. After the meeting we will
share drafts of the guidelines with members of TIC-TECH, among others, to
    solicit your comments/suggestions.
Peggy, I am sorry that I was not able to attend the last Tech Forum. I
heard that your students were great!

    --- TIC-TECH message:
    Hi everyone,

Thanks to all who were at the last Tech meeting and gave my students such a
    warm welcome.

I was wondering how other schools are handling issues with students
publishing on the Internet and doing electronic portfolios.
Because of the work with the Infotech Academy at Cleveland next year, I
would like to be prepared as a teacher to address some of these issues. I
looked at the Internet Policy our students sign for the district, but it
more for the use of the Internet than doing anything with it. I am sure
others are wondering some of these things too.

    My questions are:

    1. Does the district have a special permission form that has been approved
by the legal department for students to publish their electronic portfolio's
    online?
    2. Does the district have a special permission form that has been approved
for students to publish work on line that has been approved by the legal
    department?
    3. Is anyone willing to share any type of permission sheet or form made for
    these purposes.

Does anyone else have these concerns or any others that are related?
I would appreciate any light on these areas.

    Thank you,

    Peggy J. Soong-Yaplee
