--- TIC-TECH message:
Dwight--Just a short comment on the cheap $23 per computer price for the
Inspiration software. In Meany's case we have or will have in excess of 100
computers after the levy. That "only $23" becomes $2300 to install the
software across the school. If we did in fact use the software for both
teachers and students we could probably buy a limited number of copies and
watch them be illegally installed on the rest of the schools computers.
Lacking any designated budget component for computer software or even
replacement of old equipment all of these wonderful $23 per computer items
become just more of those wish I could have items for many of us. This I
suppose goes even as far as the computer technologist that many of our
schools are without.
Just retorically, isn't this something that SPS should be addressing
as a top-down funded position? Asking schools to choose between a classroom
teacher and a full-time tech person ransoms either the student-teacher ratio
or the ability of a facility to maintain an increasingly complex web of
equipment.
This was just a short end-of-the-year rant about stuff that I'm sure
you've heard before.
If I don't get a chance, have a good summer.

--- TIC-TECH message:
Inspiration is software that allows teachers and students to build graphical
organizers. Seattle now qualifies for a very good price on Inspiration.
It is available for $23 per computer with a minimum of 5 per order
Item INSP0005-CDBL100
You can order through Learning Services. Seattle's contact for Learning
Services is Gabe Ritter.
