Yes, and thanks so much for bringing up NTWizard.exe.
I too have used this free MS utility software and it
does indeed speed up adding users to a Windows NT
domain--and it allows quickly updating the list of
users as well.
I planned to use Excel as an intermediary application
to convert raw ASCII text (SIS) data into .CSV
format. Your approach might be more efficient.
Unfortunately, the issue of managing student user
accounts doesn't stop at this point. As I'm sure
you will agree there is still much to do. Perhaps
most vexing is the issue of keeping passwords up to
date either because students have somehow forgotten
them or compromised their passwords to someone else.
Then there are the issues of how much access to give
students and how to setup and maintain sharing rights
and printer access privileges for them along with
monitoring their personal folder quota size. These
matters can become quite time consuming when the student
access list grows above 1000. This is why I have opted
in the past to ask my tech support students to help me
with managing large numbers of student computer accounts.
What have been other experiences here?

Regarding creating multiple user accounts, It is simplified by using an old
NT 4 utility called "NT USER WIZARD". I downloaded it from Microsoft a few
years ago, yet I could not find it in my last search. I don't believe it is
offered and certainly hasn't been updated. Even so, I have it and could
email it to whoever desires it.
It's main benefit is to enable one to create multiple user accounts rapidly.
I can create 850 user accounts in about two minutes. This is actually not
exactly completely true. I first get a "CSV" file of all my students from
A&S. I massage the info for each student, having their 1) username 2)first
name 3)last name 4)password 5) description in the order I desire. The User
Wizard then whips through the list, creating the users and setting up their
home directories.
